I hope David Letterman takes credit.

I can't wait for the Daily Show now.

She could have been a heartbeat from the Presidency. The nut jobs took over the Republican party and destroyed it. Maybe this is the first step on the road to recovery. Steve Schmidt won
this one... Announcment probably too late for Letterman and Daily Show tapings for tonight... Damn. :)

I hope that if we ever get a woman president that she doesn't pick me to be VP to pander for the male vote because I also am not qualified for that position.

Sarah rocks.....and she will always have my vote as long as she stays a hottie. For all those above that hate her.....How's that "Hope and Change" working for ya?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

she's a hottie?

I checked the qualifications for President in the Constitution and missed that one. I really don't want Manthan's avatar running the nation either.
The hope and change seems to be coming along as predicted. It appears that the overall majority opinion has shifted a little bit and government has quickly responded to address problems that would have swallowed "stay the course" as a less progressive administration would have prescribed. I think that infrastructure, health and education improvements are long term structural choices so this will certainly benefit us but do little politically for the democrats in the short run. I'll remind Republicans of that in 2016 when they cash in the dividend.
As an independent I am content with our surprisingly middle of the Road President.

Public option will turn into the only option in my opinion. Cap and trade maybe in a few years. The Obama shopping spree was not what I signed up for when I voted for him. Why does he have to do so much in so little time? Its insanity. This will be a much different country if Obama has his way with everything. A much poorer one. I was naive when I voted for him I suppose. I thought congress would block more of his spend happy proposals.

political capital goes away very fast.

and he does not want to have a hard time with health care reform like the clintons.

Much better than I expected, considering the mess Obama inherited. Thanks for asking.

It's called investment not mindless spending. Big difference. You obviously don't know much about the details and why it's needed. Read up on it. Don't listen to Rush Limbaugh or those morons on Fox.

The Liberals in congress are rushing to embrace the California model. What do we have? a bankrupt state with the highest welfare roles, largest prison population, poorest schools, poorest roads and no heavy industry. A system that is completely swamped with debt from years of multi-billion dollar bond issues. A middle class and retirement population that are leaving the state in droves. It will be interesting to see how long it will be before CA faults on their debt. Is the federal far behind?

the largest welfare states in the country are all conservative states

its Alaska, then Mississippi

arguably south carolina, florida, georgia, mississippi, and arizona have a just as bad economy as california

but the GDP of california has sky rocketed up with a shallow(relatively) downturn. like most liberal states. look at gdp per capita by state, liberal states are 11 out of 14 are liberal or moderately liberal

also the average GDP growth for a democrat is twice that of a republican(post war)

and the republicans created 85% of our national debt.

barack obama has inherited the worst economy since the great depression and you expect the government to spend less money? spending less money means loosing of jobs. deficits are necessary for now. we can fix that later. we can have this paid off within 20-25 years.

the 15 worst out of 16 are very conservative states.

california has a very good college program, Mississippi HAS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST education system in the country and the industrialized world.

education in liberal countries is much much better, finland, sweden, switzerland, and obviously the dutch.

our kids are literally considered retarded to liberal socialist countries.

also obesity rates are much higher in conservative states. everyone hates fat people(unless your fat).

divorce rates are higher by conservative states.

college drop out rates are higher by conservative states, liberal states have better college graduation rates

health in conservative states is worse

conservative states smoke more.

California's problems are largely due to Proposition 13, which has drastically reduced property tax revenues for the state. While it seemed like a good idea to keep taxes under control for elderly homeowners, I didn't know until recently that Prop 13 has also drastically reduced the taxes paid by large corporations.

You can blame liberals if you want, but I blame the so-called conservatives for creating "welfare for corporations" in many various guises. Do you know California is the only state where oil companies can extract oil without paying taxes on it? You can google it:

Proposition 13 does not reduce property taxes it only restricts how much they can be raised. What it says is you have a tax base that can be raised within reason. Now live within that revenue base. It is somewhat unfair for new properties as thier initial taxes are set based on current prices. My property tax base was set in 1990 and has been going up(I assume by the max allowed although I have not figured the percentage).

Prop 13 did reduce property taxes to 1%. It also limits how much home valuations can be raised and has wreaked havoc on the State for several reasons.

Hope and change = crony capitalism.

Waste, fraud, corruption and massive vote buying with your kids' money.

Hey, communists in the Soviet Union had IQs as high as some of the knee-jerk elitists on this board.

But they weren't aware of their naivete. And they elevated a gangster like Stalin to lead them.

And so have you. And you will regret it, unless you plan on spending the rest of your lives in denial and rationalization.

the thing about stalin was that he was white...lol im joking!

but really there is no way obama is like stalin.

and socialism has worked for other countries with substantial economies. so i would consider obama a socialist and i would consider myself a socialist.

give me one piece of evidence that socialism does not work!

As a govt employee, here's how things have changed. Working for the Dot, we recently received an email from one of our leaders congratulating us on how we spent our money the fastest of all the departments. What is wrong with that picture. Being an installation electronics engineer, I used to pride myself on doing things smarter and cheaper. Now this. Either get out your checkbooks come next April 15 or accept the chinese own us. Oh btw, being an Alaska resident and conservative, Sarah, like all elections, was the better of two choices. Heck, who'd you like to have gracing your local newspaper? For those of you who base your opinion of her on her politics, don't bother. Send us the next Miss America and we'll elect her too!
